The NED University of Engineering and Technology has taken decisive action in response to the dissatisfaction stemming from the recent Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) exam results. Following revelations of irregularities in various subjects, including English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, the university has revised its admission criteria for the upcoming 2024 intake.
The former caretaker Sindh government’s committee recommended the decision, which attempts to resolve issues with fairness and openness in the admissions procedure. The committee found irregularities in the exam system, which caused both students and educational institutions to lose faith in it.
NED University has reduced its minimum intermediate mark criterion for entrance tests from 60% to 55% in light of these findings. With this modification, we hope to give students impacted by the intermediate board tampering incident fair and equal opportunities.
Given that eight personnel are connected to the anomalies in the examination, the management of the institution has taken preemptive steps to guarantee that worthy applicants are not unfairly penalized. To lessen the blow the BIEK results scandal has on potential students, NED University is allowing students who received at least a 55% on their intermediate examinations to take the admission test.
In order to facilitate enrollment in the upcoming academic session, the entrance test is set for May, and the amended admission policy is awaiting formal approval from the university’s syndicate. This proactive stance demonstrates NED University’s dedication to preserving academic standards, protecting student interests, and preserving honesty and meritocracy in the admissions process.
