Qurbani, also known as Udhiyah, is more than just a ritual; it is a profound act of devotion performed by Muslims worldwide during the month of Dhul Hijjah. At its core, Qurbani represents the ultimate submission to the will of Allah (SWT) and a commitment to the well being of the global Ummah.
Why Do We Perform Qurbani?
The act of sacrifice serves several spiritual and social purposes:
-
Nourishing the Vulnerable: It ensures that underprivileged and undernourished families receive high-quality protein, often a rare luxury in their daily lives.
-
Expressing Gratitude: It is a tangible way to show “Shukr” (gratitude) to Allah (SWT) for the countless blessings He has bestowed upon us.
-
Honoring Tradition: We commemorate the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his readiness to sacrifice what he loved most for the sake of God.
-
Purifying Wealth: By giving away a portion of our resources, we detach ourselves from material possessions and spend “Fi Sabilillah” (in the path of Allah).
The Virtue of Spending for Allah’s Sake
The significance of charity is beautifully captured in the Hadith Qudsi reported by Abu Huraira. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) stated that Allah said:
“O son of Adam, spend! I will bestow upon you.” > (Sahih Muslim: 993b)
The Prophet (SAW) further reminded us that Allah’s “right hand” is full. No amount of spending during the day or night can diminish His boundless resources. Since the creation of the heavens and the earth, His provision has remained infinite. This serves as a powerful reminder that when we give for His sake, we are never truly “losing” wealth; we are investing in a divine promise.

A Lifeline for Gaza, Syria, and Pakistan
The ongoing crises in Gaza and Syria have left millions without basic necessities. Families are facing unprecedented levels of food insecurity and displacement.
-
In Gaza: Alkhidmat is on the ground, transitioning from providing tents and hot meals to ensuring that families receive Qurbani meat during the blessed days of Eid.
-
In Pakistan & Syria: We continue to identify the most remote and impoverished communities to ensure your sacrifice reaches those who have been deprived of meat for the entire year.
